Dancing the NIght Away

Summer in Paris is full of festivals and great opportunities to get out into the summer days and nights and enjoy this great city. Here's one for dancers. "Dancing in the Open Air" is a daily event that takes place along the left bank's Quai St. Bernard, roughly between the Gare Austerlitz and the Institut de Monde Arabe. From 9 to midnight people gather to samba, tango, do folk dances, swing and jazz dancing. No partner needed! It's free and alot of fun.

Paris Way East... Istanbul and beyond

Check out our new website http://www.turkishjourneys.com to read about our terrific Turkish culinary and cultural tours. A live blog with photos will be added to the site soon. We are also working with independent travelers to Turkey and can help you plan a stellar adventure in this wonderful country.

For 2012 we will be offering our popular Istanbul.Ephesus.Cappadocia tour in late April, and adding two new tours, one focused on 'foodie' Turkey in Istanbul and near Bodrum on the Mediterranean coast, the other an adventure into the ancient Turkish south east with its astonishing archaeological sites, ancient cities, bountiful bazaars and of course,
delicious regional cuisine. Check http://www.turkishjourneys.com for updates and details or email sally at s.peabody@verizon.net

Talk with Sally about Turkey (and Paris, the Pays Basque and France too!)

August is time for the Paris Plages

A beach in Paris? Actually, this year, the city is expanding the wildly popular 'Paris Plages' to include the quais of the Seine (Voie Pompidou) and the increasingly hip Bassin de la Villette area. Sand is trucked in, cafes sprout, there are beach chairs, volley ball nets, concerts and more. Check out parisplages.paris.fr/en for descriptions of locations, and area for kids, sports, culture and more. What a civilized city!
